CAS This Year

CAS is the philosophy of the IBDP put into practice through engagement in activities that are based in creativity, activity and service. Studied throughout the Diploma Programme, CAS involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies. At AIC it’s important for students to find ways to integrate CAS into their daily lives, use CAS activities as a de-stressor, and engage in activities they enjoy while solidifying their learning through practice.

This year has ushered in new students, teachers, and of course new changes to the CAS program, such as:
- Yearlong activities like Yearbook and Now Newsletter being held on Tuesdays
- CAS organizers holding their activities during the week where students can engage in certain activities at their leisure
- Event Planning as a school wide activity allowing every student to submit a proposal for an event. DP students can use events they’ve planned towards their CAS portfolio as well.
- DP students participating in a CAS experience individually and producing reflections to add to their CAS portfolio
The DP1 students took the initiative this year by working together to plan and organize their CAS activities. They had a successful day presenting to the rest of the school and having students sign up for their planned activities. There was a great turnout from each grade and students were very excited to join an activity that they showed an interest in. We’re all hoping for a successful semester of CAS where students can challenge themselves, acquire new skills and interests, develop a spirit of discovery and self-reliance, and foster awareness of themselves and of others.

Let’s make this a great year for CAS!
