Think Internationally, Act Locally‐Service at Emmaus Servic

Emmaus Bakery is a Western‐style bakery providing breads and pastries made with natural ingredients. Locally produced and run by Guangzhou Huiling, a nonprofit organization benefitting the equal rights of people with disabilities, itemploys many bakers and delivery personnel with disabilities.
After feasibility study, which involved sending students there for Project Week last year, we started a new Service Program; Emmaus Service. For 10 weeks of time, Steve and Haitang will take 8 AIC students to Emmaus every Tuesday.Students will be helping them with their business, as well as interacting with Emmaus staff.
By doing this project, webelieve students can increase awareness of disability issues and think about what can we do to help disabled people. As a gesture of friendship, on October 16th we are planning to invite Emmaus to come and join Sports Day.
CAS promotes students to think internationally and act locally. Emmaus Service gives students the opportunity to reflect on and participate in helping out their local community.
